Plumbing and Heating Apprenticeship Consultation

SNIPEF and Skills Development Scotland have published an online survey to receive industry views on the revised draft Modern Apprenticeship in Plumbing and Heating National Occupational Standards (NOS). The NOS categorise and list the content of what is provided in our apprenticeship.

This survey comes after employer, employee and college professional volunteers met over successive months to evaluate the content, to ensure that it remains technically fit-for-purpose and reflects the evolving nature of Plumbing & Heating.

Individuals working in the Plumbing and Heating industry have an opportunity to contribute to this survey by completing it here. The survey closes on Friday 30 August.

Experienced Workers Assessment Route Now Introduced

A positive milestone for the Industry is that the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) has now introduced the Experienced Workers Assessment Route. This is for current experienced industry workers, who require proof of competency to gain the Plumbing and Heating SVQ Level 3 qualification, in order to work in the industry. Plumbing and Heating Apprenticeship Review

SNIPEF and Skills Development Scotland have published an online survey to receive industry views on the Modern Apprenticeship in Plumbing and Heating in Scotland. The survey asks what your real-life work tasks are and what should be in the apprenticeship to ensure the next generation of professionals are ready for the sector.

The survey also invites employees and employers in the industry to attend a workshop and the Technical Expert Group.

The Industry recognised apprenticeship

A review of the Plumbing and Heating Apprenticeship is due to commence in October. The first stage of the review will be to publish a profession-wide consultation. This will aim to assess the skill needs of the industry, matching our traditional requirements alongside those of renewable and emerging technologies. You can look forward to receiving the consultation when it is published.
